What is Reach Out Humboldt?

Reach Out Humboldt is a community movement which has grown from people’s desire to give what they can of their time, talents and money.  It’s about neighbors helping neighbors.

In the spring of 2009, Humboldt Area Foundation convened a series of public conversations to talk with almost 300 people about how the challenging economic times were affecting their friends, families, and neighbors and what we as a community can do about it.

People said, we as a community need to:

  •  Increase our region’s food security and make sure all our neighbors have enough to eat
  •  Increase people’s ability to help their neighbors by facilitating connections
  •  Give support to organizations that provide a safety net for those in need
  •  Elevate people’s knowledge of the good things people are doing right now to create a stronger, more resilient community, by creating an on-line communications hub

You too can be part of the movement; join us by reaching out!
